A surveyor we were working with mentioned that a local couple was subdividing and selling part of their property, so we decided to take a look. It was love at first sight. Although invasive bittersweet vines and Russian olive shrubs had overtaken the old orchard, we could see beyond the tangled brush. We saw the place where we would build our forever home and cultivate a thriving flower farm. As we explored the property, we kept discovering brilliant white rocks just beneath the surface. One after another, they emerged from the earth, each one a reminder of the land's hidden beauty. With determination and plenty of hard work, we unearthed many of them. The name seemed to reveal itself naturally. As a child, every May Day, she would go to the garden and pick a posy of violas and lily-of-the-valley as a present for her mother. As an adult, she would fill her house with beautiful arrangements from her garden. No event or gathering was complete without a vase or two brimming with cosmos, lilies, tulips, gladiolas, or roses. With some urging from her husband, she took it to the next level by growing more varieties on a bigger scale.
