A surveyor we were working with told us about a couple that was dividing and selling off a piece of their property, so we decided to take a look. It was love at first sight. Even though the invasive bittersweet and Russian olive shrubs were taking over the orchard, we could see beyond tangled weeds. We saw the site of our forever home and of our flourishing flower farm. While exploring the property, we were fascinated to discovered brilliant white rock after brilliant white rock buried just below the surface. With much effort and determination, we unearthed many of them. As a child, every May Day, she would go to the garden and pick a posy of violas and lily-of-the-valley as a present for her mother. As an adult, she would fill her house with beautiful arrangements from her garden. No event or gathering was complete without a vase or two brimming with cosmos, lilies, tulips, gladiolas, or roses. With some urging from her husband, she took it to the next level by growing more varieties on a bigger scale.
